I began my drumming career at 15 years of age playing with ballroom dance bands. During the 70’s, it was pub rock bands and a cabaret show/band band.
I had the opportunity to work with the band Magnum who were a support band for The Little River Band for their Toowoomba concert. We were the winner of the Toowoomba Hoadleys Nation Battle Of The Sounds in 1976.
During the 80’s & 90’s, I played with many pub rock bands around Queensland and also wedding & party duo’s where I was the lead vocalist.
In the 2000’s, I played with an Irish band working in the Irish pubs and clubs in Brisbane. I also toured with a country artist to The Mildura Country Festival and was invited to take a band to play at Irirki Island Resort, Vanuatu.
I had four different line ups with guitarist and vocalist Colin Johns (now touring with The Australian Eagles Tribute Band).
Recently, I had the opportunity to be a founding member of The Dale Robbins Band where I recorded an album and toured the north island of New Zealand before moving to the Gold Coast and being involved with The TaylorMade Blues Band.
Upon moving to the Sunshine Coast, I got back with Colin Johns to reform Hit’n’Run Band (Club Band) with Roger Hill on Bass who I had worked with over the years in different band line-ups.
Between all the band gigs and practice, I taught in private schools and from my home studios.
I owe the wonderful times with so many top musicians to my father who gave me the opportunity to be taught by two excellent teachers. He would drive me with my drum kit to the many ballroom dances as I was too young to have a licence.
It was how my drumming life started and still continues today.
